Homemade Red Enchilada Sauce

Homemade Red Enchilada Sauce
Homemade red enchilada sauce is rich, smoky, and far more flavorful than anything from a can. A bold tomato base is simmered with garlic, chiles, and warm spices, then thickened with masa harina for a smooth, velvety texture and a subtle corn flavor. A touch of cocoa adds surprising depth and balances the heat. It’s quick to make and perfect for smothering enchiladas, spooning over burritos and tamales, or stirring into soups and casseroles for an authentic Tex-Mex touch.
